Dear sister of Thelma Colbourne (late Donald) and the late Duncan Stanley MacLeod. Dear daughter of the late Cameron MacLeod and the late Margaret MacLeod. Proud grandmother of Ella and Alexa MacLeod. Fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. John Craignavie MacLaurin passed away at the Ottawa General Hospital on Monday, June 10th, 2013. Predeceased by his parents, William D. MacLaurin and Norma Cass. Beloved husband and best friend of Alice Higginson. Dear brother of Ruth Montgomery (Hugh), Margaret Mintha (the late Ken) and Stuart. Sadly missed by his brothers in-law Gordon and his wife Mary Higginson, Richard and his wife Lorraine Higginson and his sister- in-law Jean and her husband Paul Speiran. John will also be fondly remembered by his cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to sincerely thank the Family Medicine Team OGH and most especially Dr. Kilbertus for their care and compassion during his hospitalization. Thank you also to Laurel and Chris Leslie, Nurse Next Door Private Home Care and to John's caregiver, Catherine. Beloved husband of the former Louise Vincent. of Freeport, the Bahamas, and formerly of Toronto, peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2001, in Crystal River, Florida, in his 93rd year. Dearly beloved husband of the late Lois (nee Munro). Predeceased by his parents Peter D. and Flora McLennan; and his son John Keith (Hilary). Lovingly missed by his daughter Sylvia Longley (Ron) of Homosassa, Florida; and son Ned McLennan (Georgina) of Brampton, Ontario.
Cherished Pappy of Keith, Jonathan, Galen, and Colin McLennan of Toronto; Kevin McLennan (Liza) of Keswick; Debbie Maloney (Kevin) of England; Lois Ronan (Matthew), and Carl Rector (Carol) of Florida; Cindy Barkway (David), Toronto; Stephanie and Peter McLennan, Brampton; and Marcia McLennan (Tim Craig) of London, Ontario. Dear greatgrandfather of Genevieve and Mary Catherine McLennan; Cole and Mitchell McLennan; Ryan, Todd, and Keith Maloney; Alan Rector of Australia; Katie, Sean, and Michael Ronan; Lauren Rector and Jamie Barkway. After growing up and working on the family farm in Martintown, Ontario, John moved his family to Toronto in 1941. He became a successful home builder and real estate developer. He led a very active retired life as an avid hiker, table tennis player, golfer, and world traveller. His life was an inspiration to his children, grandchildren, and greatgrandchildren. He leaves many fond memories. Resting at the Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall, Ontario from 7-9 p.m. Friday, March 16th. Funeral Service will be held in the chapel of the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. The Reverend Andrea Harrison of St. Andrews United Church, Williamstown officiating. John will be buried at a later date in St. Andrews United Church Cemetery, Williamstown, Ontario with his wife, and ancestors who first settled there in 1784.
