HAINES, Neville Ralston "Sonny". Passed away peacefully at the Cornwall General Hospital on Wednesday, February 27, 2002. Neville, seventy, beloved husband to Joyce Slater, lovingfather of David (Ana), Richard (Kim), and the late Carolyn.
Devoted grandfather of Victor, Jessi, Teryn and Joshua. Son of the late Ernest and Constance Haines and brother of Lorna Flanagan, Grendon, and the late Howard. Family and friends are invited to a memorial gathering at Munro & Morris Funeral Home, 200 Oak Street, Lancaster, Ontario 613-347-3629 on Sunday, March 3, 2002 from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. A reception will be held following the service. Neville, a loyal member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branches 544 Lancaster and 251 Centennial in Chomedey, Laval, Quebec, will be sorrowfully missed by all his friends and family. Dear father of Michelle (Janusz Zielinski), Denise (Earl Grafton), Janette (Alan Blackstock), Philip (Carrie) and Marc (Chantal). Dear son of the late Albra Hebert and Sarianna Viau. Will be sadly missed by brothers Lucien (Yvonne), Gerard, Marcel (Paulette) and sisters Juliette Shanks, Rolande Schaefer and Lucille Roach. Predeceased by sisters Alvena, Berthe, Rita, Ernestine and Rosa. Also survived by ten grandchildren. Mr. Ned Hanson of Lakeview Heights and formerly of Toronto. Ned passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2000 after a brief and valiant struggle with cancer. Beloved husband and friend of Elizabeth (nee Fanning). Loving father of Stephen. Much missed by his ;walker Shadow and his ;greeter Hagar. Ned is survived by his brother Ralph Hanson (Sharian) of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents H. Ralph Hanson and Vera Mildred Shaw of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Steve and Elizabeth wish to thank their family and friends for the amazing outpouring of love and support. A special thanks to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Janet MacDonell Pavilion. Cremation will be followed by a Memorial Service at Thursday, October 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home, 822 Pitt Street, Cornwall. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday. Floral tributes gratefully declined. Beloved parents of Tracey (Mrs. Paul Belanger) of R.R.#1, Summerstown, Lauraine (Mrs. John MacDonell) of Moose Creek, John Hall (Valerie) of Oakville and Steven Hall (Betty) of Martintown. Mr. Hall is survived by one brother, Ernest Hall (Gisele) of Burlington and by one cousin, Margaret (Mrs. Arthur Moore) of Toronto. Peacefully at the farm in Apple Hill, Ontario, on Thursday, September 21, 2000 at the age of seventytwo. Beloved husband of Enid Odenaes, father to Michael (predeceased) and to Elisabeth, and grandfather to her sons, Michael and Bradley. Composer, performer, scholar, and educator, Dr. Hambraeus was born on January 29, 1928 in Stockholm. He received his early education in Sweden and was granted his Ph.D. from Uppsala University in 1956 for a study of Renaissance music, following which he was active in Milan and Darmstadt as an early pioneer in electroacoustic music. From 1957-72 he worked for the Swedish Broadcasting Corporation in Stockholm and rose to the position of head of music production in 1968. Emigrating to Canada, he joined the Faculty of Music at McGill University in 1972 and from then until his retirement in 1995 he taught composition, theory, musicology, and organ improvisation. He was named Emeritus Professor in 1995. His many pupils hold leading positions in musical organizations and institutions both within Canada and around the world. Amongst his many memberships are those in the Canadian League of Composers, the Royal Swedish Academy of Music, and the Swedish Composers Society. He was honoured by the King of Sweden in 1986 when he was awarded the Royal Swedish Gold Medal Litteris et Artibus. One of the leading experimental composer of the 1950s and a composer whose outlook encompassed world music, his oeuvre, which runs close to 200 compositions, covers a wide range of genres from orchestral pieces and opera to chamber and keyboard music. Foremost amongst his compositions is the large-scale choral trilogy Constellations V (1982-83), Symphonia Sacra (1985-86) and Apocalipsis (1987), and the great pedagogical work, Livre d'orgue (1981), 48 organ pieces of progressive difficulty in four volumes. Dr. Hambraeus' music is widely known through the broadcast media and in numerous recordings. Author of many articles, essays, and books on musicological topics from the 16th through the 20th century, his most recent book is Aspects of Twentieth-Century Performance Practice: memories and reflections (1997). Funeral service at Saint Finnan's Cathedral in Alexandria, Ontario on Saturday, September, 30, 2000 at 13:00. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to establish the Bengt Hambraeus Memorial Award. RHSJ Sister Kathleen Hendrick,
RHSJ, died peacefully at Kingston General Hospital, Kingston, Ontario on Wednesday, August 23, 2000 in her 85th year and her 67th year as a Religious Hospitaller of St. Joseph. Sister served as; an Obstetrical Supervisor at Hotel Dieu Hospitals, Cornwall and Kingston, Ontario, Instructor of Nursing at the Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in Chatham, New Brunswick and the newly opened Regional School in Cornwall, Ontario. She later served as Directress of Continuing Staff Education at Hotel Dieu Hospitals, St. Catharines and Cornwall, Ontario. Sister also worked in the Pastoral Care Department at Hotel Dieu Kingston, Ontario. Sister was local Superior at Hotel Dieu Convent and later at the MacDonell Memorial Convent in Cornwall. Sister Hendrick was predeceased by her parents, Martin Denis Hendrick and his wife, the former Mary Ellen O'Connor. Sister is survived by a sister, Rita McGoey of Ottawa. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Mrs. Bea (Raymond) Hendrick, Mrs. Rita (Joseph) Hendrick, Mrs. Eileen (Francis) Hendrick, Mrs. Mary (Edward) Hendrick and Mrs. Mary (Connor) Hendrick, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by six brothers: Philip, Raymond, Joseph, Francis, Edward and Connor and five sisters, Veronica, Ella, Laura, Marguerite (Sister Mary Martin, GSIC) and Teresa. Sister's funeral was held in Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph Provincial House, Amherstview, Ontario with Bishop Eugene P. LaRocque, Bishop of Alexandria-Cornwall as celebrant and Father Terry Lynch homilist. Also present were Monsignors T.J. Raby, D.P. Clement, B.J. Walsh, Fathers Paul McAvoy, John Grainger and Deacon John Ezard, several nieces, nephews and friends. Interment took place in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston, Ontario. RIP.
