In this list, in alphabetical order are both the proper names and the nicknames of the person concerned. When you see >>>, this arrow >>> <<< points to the nickname in either direction. Both columns have the 2 combinations of names, the proper to the >>>nickname and the nickname <<< to the proper name.
There are now over 800 names listed. 307 of these names were published by me in the Glengarry Genealogical Newsletter starting in GGS V-3 #2; April -77 #1-4 to V-4 #6 Dec -78; and in Highland Heritage HH V-1 #1 Feb -79 to HH V-3 #3 Mar -84 #282-307 and about 12 new additions were made as I was putting this list together.
In a few places I have added some information on the person to better identify that individual. Some proper names/nicknames still have to be identified, thus the ??
It is hoped that this list will be of some use to the viewer.

Allen McDonald >>> Lapey, From Glengarry News Jan 18 1962, New 4/04 FORMER RESIDENT LANCASTER DIES Allen (Lapey) McDonald A resident of the North Lancaster area throughout most of his life and a former township councillor Allen (Lapey) McDonald died suddenly in MacDonell Memorial Hospital, Cornwall, December 16th. He was in his 81st year.
A son of Archie and Margaret McDonald of the 5th Lancaster, he was born on the family farm west of North Lancaster. Mr. McDonald clerked for the late Arch J. Macdonald in the old Leclaire store for some years and spent a short time in Edmonton before returning to take over the family farm.
Failing eyesight forced him to discontinue farming a few years ago and he had been in Cornwall since losing his sight.
Surviving are one sister, Cassie, Mrs. John R. McDonald, of Port Arthur, and three nephews. One of them Francis McDonald of Detroit, with Mrs. McDonald attended the funeral held December 19th from the Marcoux & Morris Funeral Home to St. Raphaels.
Pallbearers were: Ranald J. McDonald, Jack McDonell, Jim McDonald, Stanley McGillis, Lloyd McDonald and Angus R. McDonald.
There were may evidences of regret in Mr. McDonald's death.

Allan the Dog <<< Allan MacRae; My mother and my uncle Sturat McCormick remembered him quite well. He lived east of McCormick's Post Office, was single and was well known through the countryside for his specialty. He carried a roll of bark, the size one would carry under the arm confortable which was used in the weaving of seats and backs of chairs. He was well known for his chairs alone. Uncle Stuart still has one. He also carriied as hatchet and a long pole with a sharp spike in it. He would travel from farm to farm making the chairs right there, the way was often dangerous because of wild dogs that roamed the bush. He would kill them if attacked, or if a farmer asked him to kill a certain wild dog. He'd do it. As walking was the only mode of transportation in those days, his speclty of killing the wild dogs were important. Thelma McDonald 1977
