SIMSER, Adeline (Abrams) - Passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, age 94 years. Adored wife of the late Patrick Allan Simser. Loving mother of Patricia "Patsy" Weiler (Frank), Ann Martell (Rod) and Kathy Simser. Beloved grandmother of Peter Weiler (Tracey), Stephen Weiler, Brenda Laframboise and great-grandmother of Jessica and Elisha Weiler and Tabatha Laframboise. Survived by one sister Barbara Sanderson. Predeceased by her parents Donald and Anna (MacDonald) Abrams, brothers Donald John, Vincent (Marjorie), Austin (Joan), Robert, Billy (Shirley) and sister Anna Sanderson. Friends will be received at the M. JOHN SULLIVAN FUNERAL HOME, 341 Pitt Street (across from city hall) Cornwall on Monday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and on Tuesday from 9-10am. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, April 8, 2013 at St. Columban's Catholic Church at 10:30am, followed by Cremation. Rite of Committal, Woodlawn Cemetery at a later date. Retired proprietor of Jay's General Store, Marlborough Street, North Cornwall. Beloved husband of the late Bertha (Betty) Hytner; and loving companion of Sheila Pearl of Cornwall. Loved father of Bernard Sookman (Rosemary), Hudson, Quebec; Thelma Sookman, Toronto; and Harold Sookman of Montreal. Cherished grandfather of Sarah-Grace, and Micah Sookman. Predeceased by his parents Baruch and Sara-Golda Sookman. Dear brother of Clara (Harriet) Rosenbaum (Henry), of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and the late Larry Sookman, Montreal. (Funeral service will be held in Beth-El Congregation Synagogue on Friday, September 21, 2001 at 11 a.m.) Rabbi Aaron-ben Tovim officiating. Beloved daughter of the late Joseph Smith and the late Fanny Bridges. Loving sister of Arita LeClair. Predeceased by three brothers, Roy, Sam, Lawrence and two sisters, Vera LeClair and Stella Smith. Will be sadly missed by several nieces, one nephew and their families. Age 98, of Pembroke, Ontario, wife of the late Harry S. Smith, former owner of Smith´s Clothing Co., of Pembroke and Cobden. Dear mother of Shirley Smith, Pembroke and Dr. James Smith and his wife Sherley-Ann, Thunder Bay. Sister of the late J. W. Mayhew and Pat, Napanee and Mrs. Ruth Kernaghan, Oshawa. Dear grandmother to Harry Smith (Barbara); Sarah Smith; Tony Smith and Rebecca Smith. Great-grandmother to Jake. Isabel was a member of Calvin United Church, Pembroke and took part in many activities in the church and community. She conducted a discussion group (FIAT - First In All Things) of 25 young men for 5 years, each Sunday morning. Isabel was an active person and enjoyed swimming daily for twenty years. She won the championship in swimming for the Heart Association for Ontario at the age of 84. She was an active member of the Pembroke Civic Hospital; President of the Alexander Club; member of the Board of Governors; Chairman of Group 16 of the Hospital Association which included all hospitals from Deep River to Cornwall, as well as Ottawa. Isabel was second President of the Pembroke & District Canadian Club. She was an active curler and was President of the Ladies Section. By request there was no funeral home visitation. A Memorial Service will be held in the Chapel of Marionhill, Pembroke, on Friday, February 27th at 11:00 a.m. Spring interment of ashes in the Calvin-First Presbyterian Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy donations to the charity of choice would be appreciated. Arrangements by the Malcolm, Deavitt & Binhammer Funeral Home, 141 Renfrew St., Pembroke.

Survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. 1922 - 2000. Passed away peacefully at Sacre-Coeur Hospital in Montreal on October 10, 2000. Beloved husband of Louise Macdonald, loved and dear father of Madeleine Oostindie (Paul), Robert (Anne), Michael (Robyn), Anne (Gary), Peter (Lynn) and Elaine Girgis (Sami); loving grandfather to Mark, Catherine and Daniel. He was the son of the late George D. Sabourin (Dick) and Emma Lalonde. He is survived by his sisters and brothers, Rosanna, Bella, Laurier, Solomon and Bert, and predeceased by his brothers Dick and Alphonse, and his sister Emily. Rolland had a quiet nature and was an avid sports enthusiast. He was a very generous man who believed in supporting many charities. He retired from Northern Electric Co. (Nortel) several years ago. Visitation at Komitas Funeral Home, 5180 rue de Salaberry, Montreal, on Thursday, October 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. On Friday, October 13 in his old hometown of Alexandria, Ontario, visitation is from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Munro & Morris Funeral Home, 114 Main South, Alexandria.
